Painting: Acrylic, Oil, Charcoal on Canvas.
This picture represents a human figure with the head of a deer. The character sits on a briefcase with the writing «poetry still matters». This painting is inspired by the figure of a street poet, who lives by making poetry and giving away his poems on the street. The message I would like to convey with this picture is the fact that we live in an era where poetry is less and less present because of the frantic and superficial times we are experiencing. In the painting, I use an old typewriter that represents the analogical past that is opposed to today’s totally digital one. The character conveys a feeling of humility due to the fact that the profession to which he dedicates does not bring much money. Despite that the character does not give up and writes the phrase poetry still counts to show that the passion for poetry wins on adversity.
